Our Mission
SERFA collects electronics (phones/tablets/computers), refurbishes them through our partnership with PCs for People, and gets them into the hands of people who need reliable access to the internet in their daily lives.
Our mission as a non-profit organization is to accept donations of second-hand electronics, securely sanitize and repurpose them, then distribute them to individuals in need through local schools, churches, and community organizations.
Many of us have old devices in the back of drawers and closets that we aren’t using. SERFA makes it possible to turn these relics into life-changing tools for local employees, students, and others.

The SERFA Story
SERFA was founded in 2024 by Loch Macfarlane.
As a sophomore in high school, Macfarlane created SERFA (Second-hand Electronics Repurposed For All) to redistribute individuals’ old electronics to those in need.
Through the Missionary Society at St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, he’s worked to promote the organization’s mission and collect devices. The first donations came from a SERFA box placed in local grocer Libbie Market.
This fast fall, he teamed up with PCs for People, a nationwide non-profit that accepts corporate donations of computers to clean, refurbish and update for redistribution. PCs for Peoples and SERFA have similar goals and missions that allow the organizations a collaborate in a way that further benefits people in the Richmond area.
